Emily’s Song
Audience in Los Angeles falls in love with a captivating musical journey: Emilys Song
Recently, theater lovers discovered the emotional story of Emily, through the performances of Lindsey Haun (Emily Everson), Tom Schmid (Charlie) and Darcy Rose Byrnes (Young Emily). The idea of this dramatic story came to Chet Holmes, director and playwright, after handling a traumatic episode of his own. It was then revealed to him how much the lives of his children would have changed if he were suddenly not around any more. This thought empowered him to write the 100 acts play in just a few weeks.
The strong story made a big impression on its viewers and critics too, thanks to the great vocal performances and plot twists. The audience lives every moment with Emily, they sense her troubles, they suffer with her and find enormous relief when she finally fulfills her dreams, falls in love with a fine guy and is reunited with her father.
This emotional play touched the audience so much that a viewer, Gerald (68) had to admit: “I was so moved, I actually had to wipe tears from my face. And I don’t cry, ever. It was a really joyous ending”. Others were convinced with the good quality of the story right after seeing the trailer: “After watching the trailer, I knew it was going to be good, but I never thought it would be that good. I was blown away” (Stephanie, 36). Marty (45), a viewer already familiar to Chet Holmes’s works, flew in from Arizona just for this play: “Outstanding. My wife and I flew in from Arizona because I’ve heard of the author, and knew he has high standards, but this blew me away. My wife was moved to tears as well”. The younger audience felt close to Emilys’ Song , Ali (16) declaring: “I loved Wicked, but this is ten times better than Wicked, which was my favorite play until this”. Some liked it so much, they viewed it more than once: “This is my second time and I’m begging my mother to go again. The music was fantastic and the story was amazing!” (Nicole, 13).
But what made this production so big? Some say that it was just the similarities with real life stories in which the audience saw themselves. Others agree that the beautiful voices transposed real emotions, real happiness, real feelings, giving life to their written characters. Surely, everybody agrees that this is one play, which L.A. won’t forget that easily.
Emilys Song ran through February at Hudson Backstage Theatre.

Lyrics
Mere bina main rehne laga hoonTeri hawa mein behne laga hoonJaane main kaise, tera hua hoonMujhe toh lagta hai main shayad tere dil ki dua hoon haanTujhko jo paaya ahaToh jeena aayaAb yeh lamha thehar jaaye tham jaaye bas jaaye hum dono ke darmiyaanTujhko jo paaya ahaToh jeena aayaAb yeh lamha thehar jaaye tham jaaye bas jaaye hum dono ke darmiyaan
Pehle se zyadaMain jee raha hoonJabse main tere, dil se jura hoonRaahon pe teri, main toh chala hoonTu meri manzil hai tere kadmon pe bas rukne laga hoon haan
Tujhko jo paaya (tujhko jo paaya) ahaToh jeena aaya (jeena aaya)Ab yeh lamha thehar jaaye tham jaaye bas jaaye hum dono ke darmiyaanTujhko jo paaya (tujhko jo paaya) ahaToh jeena aayaAb yeh lamha thehar jaaye tham jaaye bas jaaye hum dono ke darmiyaan
Teri nazar mein nayi si adaa haiNaya sa nasha bhi ghula haiKayi dino se bandha tha baadal joTere hi baalon mein khula haiTeri haddon mein, meri basar haiAb tujhe bhi, jaana kidhar haiJahan rahe tu, main woh jahan hoonJise jiye tu, main woh samaa hoonTeri wajah se, naya naya hoonPehle kaha na maine ab ye tumse kehne laga hoon
Tujhko jo paaya (tujhko jo paaya) ahaToh jeena aaya (jeena aaya)Ab yeh lamha thehar jaaye tham jaaye bas jaaye hum dono ke darmiyaanTujhko jo paaya (tujhko jo paaya) ahaToh jeena aayaAb yeh lamha thehar jaaye tham jaaye bas jaaye hum dono ke darmiyaan

How to Find Good Music Teachers
Whether you are looking for a piano teacher, a singing coach, a guitar teacher or any music teacher for that matter, finding a good and qualified instructor may not be the easiest thing to do. So why is it important to find a good teacher?
Well, you see, if you at the beginner level, then you must start off on the correct footing, don’t you agree? If you are an intermediate musician or singer, it is even more important that you need a teacher who really knows his/hers stuff, right? So the question boils down to this – are you really getting the right information when looking for a good music teacher?
The problem is compounded even further because since the music teaching industry is largely unregulated, music teachers need not necessary to have any degrees, diplomas or certificates in order to set up teaching classes. On the other hand, many good teachers do not even have any paper qualifications, but are simply very talented teachers. I personally know quite a number of these talented self-taught teachers.
You must understand that a good music teacher may not be the best player of an instrument or singer. If you watched 2008 Olympics in Beijing, you will know that prolific swimmer, Michael Phelps’ coach can’t swim faster than Mike, but he is still a coach to the fastest swimmer in the world, isn’t he? So, whether a teacher can play the musical instrument well or can sing well is only just one of many indicators of being a good teacher.
Now let’s just say that you are an absolute beginner music student, so what can you do? Well, you can start off by using your own personal contacts. You may have a friend or a relative who is taking music lessons or have taken music lessons before and may be able to recommend you a good teacher.
Music stores and shops often provide music lessons and you can check with them for good recommendations or even just search for a teacher using the internet. You see, it is very easy to find a music teacher this way, however can you count on these sources to provide you with the correct information?
Let’s just say that you have short listed some teachers teaching in your vicinity and before you interview them, these are some of the questions you may like to ask.
What teaching qualifications do you have? Are these qualifications recognized? How long have you been teaching? How many other students do you have? Can you give me the phone numbers of two or three of your students?
Yes, these questions may seem rude and upfront, but you are the one paying good money for quality teachers. Furthermore, as a new student, you will have absolutely no idea whether your potential teacher actually know their stuff well enough.
Now, if you are an intermediate music student, you probably need to rely more on word of mouth recommendations to get the suitable music teacher at your level to take you to another level of your music education. As an intermediate student, you would probably have played professionally or have been mingling in the musician circuit, so you would probably have a couple of good contacts.
Aside from musical expertise, is that your teacher and you need to have good vibes with one another. You see, since both of you will be working one-on-one, any friction will mean the end of this relationship and you will have to start all over again finding and looking for a good music teacher. So ask for trial lessons if you can.
Music lessons need not be face to face with your teacher. One good way of finding a good music teacher is not to look for one. I mean with today’s internet technology, many renown and good music teachers have set up websites and blogs to teach music online, by VCDs, MP3s, video podcast and other means that you need not have a live teacher present.
In this way, you can learn music at your own time, at the comfort of your own home and yet be rest assured that you are given professional lessons by good music teachers.

How To Search For Good Music Teachers
It does not matter whether if you are looking for a guitar teacher, a singing coach, a piano teacher or any music teachers for that matter, finding a good and qualified teacher may not be the easiest thing to do. So why is it so important to find a good teacher?

On the other hand, many good teachers do not even have any paper qualifications, but are simply very talented teachers. I personally know quite a number of these talented self taught teachers. Hence the dilemma as a music student begins.
Firstly, you must comprehend that a good music teacher may not be the best instrumentalist or singer. You can see this happening especially in the field of sports. For example, football coaches may not be able to play football better than their charges, but yet able to produce world class winning teams. Similarly, whether a teacher can play musical instruments well or can sing like a star is only just one of many indicators of being a good teacher.
Now let us just say that you are an absolute beginner in playing whatsoever kind of music instruments, so what should you do? Well, you can start off by using your own personal contacts. You may have a friend or a relative who is taking music lessons or have taken music lessons before and may be able to recommend you a good teacher.
Music stores and shops often provide music lessons and you can check with them for good recommendations or even just search for a teacher using the internet. Here are some guides. Let’s say that you now have short listed some teachers teaching in your vicinity and before you interview them, these are some of the questions you may like to ask.
What teaching qualifications do the potential teacher have? Are their qualifications recognized? If so, by whom? How long have the teacher been teaching? How many other students do they have? Can they give you the phone numbers of two or three of your students so that you can verify their claims?
Yes, these questions may seem rude and upfront, but you are the one paying good money for quality teachers. Furthermore, as a new student, you will have absolutely no idea whether your potential teachers actually know their trade.
Now, if you are an intermediate music student, you probably need to rely more on word of mouth recommendations to get the suitable music teacher at your level to take you to another level of your music education. You see, since both of you will be working one-on-one, any friction will mean the end of this relationship and you will have to start all over again finding and looking for a good music teacher. So ask for trial lessons if you can. However, many good teachers do not give free trial lessons because they are so good that their itinerary is packed back to back.
Music lessons need not be face to face with your teacher. One good way of finding a good music teacher is not to look for one. I mean with today’s internet technology, many musically renowned and good music teachers have set up websites and blogs to teach music online, by VCDs, MP3s, video podcast and other means so that you need not have a live teacher present.
Furthermore, you can verify the credentials of these teachers by searching their name online. Another plus factor is that you can practice in the comfort of your own home and save plenty of commuting time. Best of all, because you will be learning from recorded material without the teacher’s presence, you will be saving plenty of money. This is perhaps the option most convenient to you.
